Here’s the rules, folks!
1. No Metagaming, Godmodding, and Powerplaying.
This should be a no-brainer.
For those of you that aren’t aware of what these things are:
Metagaming is when a player has become aware of or told about information pertaining to or directly regarding an ongoing storyline or situation and then, by means of role play, uses that information either to their own benefit or as a means to interact with/against other players. Simply put, it's using what they learn out of character, in character. Often, no RP is involved at all, and it's extremely disappointing for those of us who are trying to provide a great and fun storyline. Here's an example:
Jack tells Jill about his plots to kidnap Jill’s precious What’s-Her-Face’s partner, and Jill makes it so that What’s-Her-Face’s partner can never be captured.
Plotting’s for fun and throwing together future ideas. Don’t crush the fun.
Godmodding is taking control of someone else’s character while role playing. An example would be:
Optimus called to Megatron, declaring that it was time he paid for his transgressions. He charged in toward his bitter enemy, his blade ready to strike . . .
Megatron dodged Optimus’s charge, then tuned and stabbed Optimus in the side with his own blade, making it so that he fell to the ground. He could not get up.
You can only control your own character during roleplaying. It keeps it fair, a little more realistic, and a lot more fun that way. Remember godmodding also doesn’t just pertain to combat, but other things, too. Be careful while writing.
Powerplaying is when a player manipulates their character so that they always have the advantage in their current situation. The most believable characters have both strengths and weaknesses. It is no fun to have a character that wins every time, and it’s certainly not fair to others, either.
2. Only One Account!
One account per player, please. You can have as many characters on this one account as your heart desires. You can only have ten canons, for now, but be free to have as many OCs as you want.
3. Characters
You MUST make an account before you can jump in and role play. This helps us keep track of who’s on the board, and we DO allow canon alterations here so it helps us know what you did differently. You’ll only need one approval, and then you can go wild. Please stay in-character during posts, and keep in mind that each character requires their own posts on your thread tracker.
Be aware that there are instances where characters happen to die. If one of yours gets into one of these situations, and you don’t want him/her to die, talk with your fellow role player(s) and see if something can’t be worked out. If you and your partner(s) can’t come to a decision, talk to one of the staff. If there’s no in-character reason for the death, it won’t happen.
Before making a canon, check the canon list and be sure that the one you want isn’t taken. If a character’s listed, they’re already being played. That’s all right, though; there are plenty of canons in the Transformers universe and OCs are encouraged and warmly welcomed.
When it comes to canons, we work on a first-come, first-serve basis. First one to finish and get the character approved is the one that gets the character. If you’re short on time, muse, etc. and are unable to finish a character, you can stick a [WIP] on it. However, this doesn’t lock them in place, and if someone else comes along and wants the character, they can still try for it. You'll be allowed to reserve one canon character at a time.
For each canon you create, you need to make at least three posts with that character before you can make another canon.
The first of a kind of character, for instance a Predacon, Cassette, etc. takes precedence. However they set up the character will be the general template for future characters.
4. Thread Trackers
For the sake of keeping organized, we require that you make a thread tracker for your characters and in some way shape or form link them in your signature. We don’t care how you do the thread tracker, just be sure to have one. It keeps you organized and helps others who might be looking for a chance to role play with you and your characters.
Let us know when a thread is finished, that way we can put it in the archives and add it to the site history.
5. Activity
It’s a no-brainer that life happens outside of the roleplaying community. It’s why we require that you post at least three posts a month. If something comes up that prevents you from keeping up, be sure to post in the absence thread and tell us when you’re leaving and how long you’ll be gone. We will have activity checks to make sure that the players are still active, be sure to post there so that we know you’re still here! People who don’t respond to activity checks and have not posted in the absence thread will be considered gone and any canons that they currently have will be open again.
6. Theft
Do not steal from other players. This includes any form of writing, art, or individual characters that they own. Any kind of theft will not be tolerated.
7. Threads
Here on the RISE we run on liquid time. This means that your character(s) can be in multiple threads at once, in as many threads as you can keep active.
Threads here cannot be closed. You can still tag invites for specific characters, but putting up an invite won't mean that others can't join. If someone else has an in-character reason to join, and the ability to be in that area at that time, they can join. For example, if someone’s character is under attack by enemy forces, another one can join in to help the attackers/defend the oppressed. This keeps things interesting and fun. But, keep in mind, that abuse of this rule will NOT be tolerated. Additionally, if someone has made the topic description invite-only or something similar, we do ask that you offer the courtesy of asking the thread starter if you have permission to jump in, for you don't want to ruin major plot threads for someone else. Please note, this is just a courtesy, and not a requirement.
There are multiple ways one can communicate in the Transformers universe. We highly suggest you use our provided dialogue chart. This'll help ease any kind of communication confusion during threads.
Language: Swearing is generally permitted. However, the language cannot be used to severely abuse.
Sexual Content: Sexual content is permitted as long as it is done off the site (these private rps can be done on skype, and will be counted on as canon if both parties wish it to be, thus the 2 rating.). Proboards will not allow any sort of sexual content beyond mild sexual innuendo and references n its boards. No explicit representations or references to genitalia or sex acts while posting on the forum. Also remember it is your responsibility to make sure your rp partner is of age if you do decide to do more off site.
Violence: Extreme violence is permitted. Clear mature tagging is required.
8. Cbox Rules
Respect the other people in the cbox. Bullying, trolling, spamming, and harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
Take drama elsewhere. Don’t start it, don’t promote it; we don’t condone it.
We have the cbox as a benefit to the community and for any new members. There is a Skype group chat, but it’s not required that you use both or one or the other.
Pretty simple, right?
But let's say you break one of the rules.
First time offenders will be given a light warning, second time offenders will be given a stronger warning from one of us personally. After the second offense, we will begin banning, which will range from one day to one week, to one month and then complete site banning depending on the severity of the offense and how many times rules have been broken.
That's all! If you have any questions go ahead and shoot us a PM! Pick up a canon, make an OC, and have fun! Enjoy the RISE!
