Megatron

PERSONALITY

Megatron is well known for his sarcastic wit as much as for his skill for presenting even the most evil scheme in a ‘positive’ light in order to convince others to join him. It is this more then anything that has allowed him to recruit his army of Decepticons. As leader he often appears aloof with other Decepticons with one or two exceptions, such as Soundwave whom he considers to be a friend.

In battle he is both clever and ruthless with his strategies and will think nothing of sacrificing drones if it will achieve his goal. He is able to adapt based on changing conditions and often there is more to his strategies then will first meet the eye.

He is under no illusions about his actions, he well knows that his goals and acts are evil but he has little regard for such small concerns such as morality, for the most part. He is also not above threatening his subordinates in order to keep in line nor will he hesitate to even ‘beat on’ incompetent subordinates. That said he also gives credit when it is due.

He is able to form friendships with his subordinates, such as Soundwave as mentioned earlier. However most he tolerates because they are useful to his goals, anything more a bot must earn.



Weaponry: Megatron uses a powerful Pulse Cannon mounted on his right arm as his primary weapon. He also has a blade concealed within his right arm which is able to cut through Cybertronian metals with seeming ease.

In his jet mode the Pulse Cannon is significantly more powerful and functions as his primary weapon.

Strengths:He is highly intelligent along with being very skilled at fighting from his years as a gladiator. He is also used to making due with what he has and making the best of it.

Weaknesses: Can be egotistic believing his plans are perfect with few backup plans. He is also very arrogant believing he is superior to everyone. He is also somewhat slower due to his larger and armoured form then some of the smaller bots.



Megatron’s full past is known only to himself though his known history begins in the gladiator arena during the so called golden age of Cybertron, when he was known as Megatronus. He rose through the ranks, putting his fighting skills to good use and he gained a strong following for his reasons for fighting. He believed that the current leaders of Cybertron were corrupt, too comfortable in their high stations. Cybertron needed a leader from the lowly masses if they were to thrive.

He rose to the top of the gladiator arena along with his long time friend, Soundwave. He then demanded that the leaders hand over the Matrix of Leadership to him, making him the next prime. Of course they refused and instead gave it to the bot, Pax Orion who later became known as Optimus Prime.

This was the last betrayal in Megatronus’ mind, he had had enough of them and it was time to act. He gathered his followers, naming them Decepticons and began the Great War that would burn across the whole planet.

During this war he changed his name to Megatron, naming himself the defacto leader of this new faction of Cybertronians. At last he would purge the lazy, oppressive regime of the old leaders to be replaced by that of the people. Of course that was his intention but as Optimus Prime and the new Autobots fought back something happened in his mind.

His tactics, reasons and even his very being changed, becoming utterly ruthless in his quest for final victory. As the years wore on he became more and more obsessed with being named the leader of the Cybertronians.

Of course the war waged on for centuries and eventually Cybertron was depleted of Energon, reduced to a mere husk of what it once was. It was then he pooled what resources he had left and built the Nemesis, the greatest warship ever created. With it he travelled the stars and found a backwater planet rich with Energon. He immediately travelled there but to his frustration the Autobots had also found their way to this new planet.

The war once again raged with Megatron giving little thought to the native humans, considering them primitives and not worthy of his time. Unfortunately this would prove to be his undoing as the Autobots, teamed up with what little the humans had, were able to get the upper hand on him and his Decepticon army.

With his army beaten and the Nemesis retreating to orbit of the planet Megatron ordered the construction of a space bridge. With it’s completion Megatron reluctantly left Air Commander Starscream in charge of the Nemesis. He left orders to continue mining the Energon left on the planet known as Earth.

He spent the next 3 years in deep space searching for a means to rebuild his army and complete his conquest. It was during this time he learned of a new, secret and dark power. Taking this knowledge and seeing the potential of this energy source, known as Dark Energon, he has now signalled the Nemesis to open the space bridge to bring about his return to Earth so he might bring his revenge on Optimus Prime and the Autobots…
